Mental health risk factors during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Polish population

Introduction: The level of post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) associated with the early stages COVID-19 outbreak, stress, anxiety, and depressive was assessed. Risk factors for mental health in Polish population have been identified. Material methods: Nine hundred twenty-six respondents completed a set questionnaires consisting questions concerning COVID-19, PTSS related to outbreak (Impact Event Scale-Revised, IES-R), their status (Depression, Anxiety Stress Scale, DASS-21). Results: Most reported severe (44.06%), normal intensity (52.38%), anxiety (56.05%), (56.48%). Almost 20% were characterized by or extremely symptoms. Every seventh respondent an Female gender, parental status, having relationship, at least two-person household higher DASS-21 subscales. A few physical symptoms, medical visit, quarantine, negative evaluation, chronic diseases, knowledge about increase number infected people deaths levels PTSS. Some precautions need additional information on certainty high contracting probability low survival rate, concerns loved ones Conclusions: indicated risk can be used developing psychological interventions improve health. It is necessary conduct qualitative research reasons occurrence during pandemic.
